(Vocals, b. 1941)

Ernest Evans started out as a Philadelphia novelty act who had his first hit in 1959 as a musical impressionist. In 1960, he recorded a more innocent version of a steamy Hank Ballard B-side, ‘The Twist’, which made it to the US No. 1, bubbling under for over a year afterwards before, uniquely, returning to the top spot. Many dance-craze singles followed, including the platinum ‘Let’s Twist Again’. He has had over 50 hits, earning him a place on the R&R revival circuit ever since.
