Personalities | Jim Croce | Seventies | Rock

(Vocals/instrumentals, 1943–73)

Like Buddy Holly, American singer-songwriter Croce was to attain legendary status after his career was cut short in a plane crash. His death in September 1973 was straddled by a pair of US chart-toppers, ‘I Got A Name’ and the poignant ‘Time In A Bottle’, whose title all-too-aptly summed up the transience of life. Accompanying guitarist Maury Muehleisen was one of five others to lose their lives in the crash, while Croce’s son A.J. has carried on his father’s work.
