During the 1940s and early 1950s James R. Denny, born in Buffalo Valley, Tennessee, was crucial in transforming Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry from a regional barn dance-style radio show into a star-studded national programme. Denny was also central to the growth of Nashville’s music industry in the 1950s and early 1960s through his resounding success as a publisher and talent agent.
