The Strat Pack Concert
Throughout his career, the Fender Stratocaster was David Gilmour’s guitar of choice and he had always been comfortable to discuss his taste in plank-spanking equipment ever since joining the band. On 24 September 2004 he helped celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Fender guitar by participating in a charity concert at Wembley. Gilmour used the million-dollar Strat No. 0001 (which he owned) to perform ‘Marooned’ and ‘Coming Back To Life’ and reverted to his famed 1957 reissue for the final track ‘Sorrow’. Other performers included Johnny Marr of Smiths fame, Joe Walsh from the Eagles and Amy Winehouse!

Mason’s Inside Out: A Personal History Of Pink Floyd
In 2004 Nick Mason published his personal history of Pink Floyd: Inside Out. Like the author it was too well-mannered to contain any sordid revelations but gave a wry insight into the inner workings of the Floyd machine. This ranged from a first meeting at college where Mason refused to lend Waters his unreliable Austin Seven, to Bill Graham arranging a pen full of pigs backstage when Floyd were touring Animals. The best ‘revelation’ was that EMI had presented Mason – and we assume the rest of Floyd – with a gold Rolex watch in 1977 to commemorate 10 years of service.
