‘Sleeping Satellite’, 1993

Some described her style as a more pop-orientated Seal, and Archer’s first single, ‘Sleeping Satellite’, knocked The Shamen’s all-pervasive ‘Ebenezer Good’ off of the UK No. 1 spot, staying there for two weeks. In 1993, she won a Brit Award for Best Breakthrough Act. A one-hit wonder to many, Archer has released albums as recently as 2006’s On, though only an extremely niche fan base continues to keep up with her work.
