(Vocal/instrumental group, 1962–present)
After eight UK chartbusters as singer Brian Poole’s backing combo, 1967’s ‘Here Comes My Baby’ precipitated a golden age for Chip Hawkes (vocals, bass), Alan Blakely (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Ricky West (guitar, vocals) and Dave Munden (drums). 1967’s ‘Silence Is Golden’, a British No. 1, was to be their biggest US hit. A third global smash, ‘Even The Bad Times Are Good’, was followed by domestic triumphs before a Top 40 finale with 1971’s country-flavoured ‘Hello Buddy’.
