(Vocal/instrumental group 1982–93, 1999–present)
Created by singer/guitarist Mike Scott who enlisted Anthony Thistlethwaite (saxophone, mandolin), Karl Wallinger (keyboards), Kevin Wilkinson (drums) and Steve Wickham (violin) and re-established folk rock as a medium. 1985’s This Is The Sea first delivered ‘The Whole Of The Moon’, which went to No. 3 when reissued in 1991. 1988’s Fisherman’s Blues scored in the US, where Scott’s Celtic manner was a live draw. Scott went solo, then reformed the band for the new century.
