Fronted by the striking, bald, six and a half footer Peter Garrett, this 1960s-influenced, politically committed Australian band still have plenty to say. They played hundreds of gigs before making their US and UK album debut with 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 in 1983. It was not until ‘Beds Are Burning’ from the superb Diesel And Dust (1988) made the world aware of the Aborigines’ plight, that they became internationally renowned. Blue Sky Mining (1990) was another palatable helping of tuneful, intelligent rock.
