No Quarter: Jimmy Page & Robert Plant UnLedded
Recorded throughout Morocco, Wales and London, the 90-minute MTV UnLedded TV show saw Page and Plant, backed by a full orchestra, giving their Led Zeppelin back catalogue the world-music makeover they had been trying to work into the group’s sound since their earliest visit to India in 1971. Included were four new Page and Plant originals: ‘City Don’t Cry’, ‘Yallah’, ‘Wonderful One’ and ‘Wah Wah’ (though the latter wouldn’t see release until the 2004-anniversary reissue), all with the world influence that characterized the Led Zeppelin covers. Within the confines of what they were attempting, the sister-album release was a success, though John Paul Jones was annoyed that they had called it No Quarter, as he was mostly responsible for the Led Zeppelin song by that name, but didn’t seem to have been asked to be part of the UnLedded project.
