Personalities | The Edgar Broughton Band | Sixties | Rock

(Vocal/instrumental group, 1966–76)

If received with some affection when they reformed in the 1990s, Broughton (vocals, guitar) and his boys – Arthur Grant (bass) and Steve Broughton (drums) – will be remembered more for a rabble-rousing non-song, ‘Out Demons Out’, one of two Top 40 entries that typified the musical articulation of issues political and social that had secured this Warwickshire hard rock combo their high standing in Britain’s agitprop circles. Yet the Band were not so ‘alternative’ that they could not be great fun too.
