Thirty Years Of Maximum R&B

To all intents and purposes The Who was dead. Roger Daltrey did his best to keep the flame alight, but Pete Townshend attempted to blow it out at every opportunity. Their back catalogue had suffered badly at the hands of record executives looking to make a quick buck from compilations, and their legacy appeared in danger. Journalist and long-time fan Chris Charlesworth took action and talked the band, management and record company into allowing him to compile a four-CD retrospective of their stage and studio recordings. The acclaimed box set was well received and helped to reignite interest.
